Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) is one of Ireland’s largest acute teaching hospitals. Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the preparation and service of meals for patients.
2. Maintain hygiene and good housekeeping in accordance with department policy.
3. Dishwashing and cleaning of Catering equipment and utensils.
4. Adhere to departmental and regulatory policies and procedures.
5. Practice good food hygiene at all times.
6. Assist with the preparation of food items.
7. Prepare salads/sandwiches as required.
8. Account and register all sales of food and beverages.
9. Maintain a flexible approach to performance of duties.
10. Co-operate with all quality initiatives within the department.
11. Perform cleaning duties as assigned.
12. Record information on cleaning schedules and temperature charts as required.
13. Maintain a prompt and efficient food delivery service.
14. Convey patient comments regarding food quality to management.
15. Prepare requisitions for dry goods and communicate with the central department.
16. Relay daily menu to patients and gather their orders.
17. Maintain cleanliness within on-call accommodation areas.
18. Any other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Must have:
1. Been educated to Leaving Certificate standard or equivalent.
2. 12 months satisfactory relevant experience in a similar environment.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
4. Fluent command of the English language.
Desirable:
1. Certificate in Primary Food Hygiene.
2. Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar role in a Hospital/Healthcare environment.
Reward & Recognition:
1. Remuneration is in accordance with the Department of Health Consolidated Salary Scales.
2. The appointment is permanent/temporary, full time/part time hours available, and pensionable pro rata.
3. The annual leave entitlement is 23 working days per year pro rata.
4. Normal working hours are 39 worked over 7 days with hours between 8 am to 8 pm.
