SQL Server Performance Engineer – Cloud OperationsWe're seeking a SQL Server Performance Engineer to help analyze and improve the scalability, concurrency, and operational reliability of our high-volume SQL Server systems deployed in Azure and AWS.
This role is perfect for someone early in their career who's eager to dive deep into performance bottlenecks, query tuning, and cloud database operations.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesAnalyze and report on SQL Server performance across production and test environmentsInvestigate concurrency issues and recommend tuning strategies for optimal throughputStrong knowledge of SQL and database technologies to implement recommended performance improvementsMonitor SQL Server health, including deadlocks, wait stats, and long-running queriesAssist in benchmarking and load testing to simulate large-scale workloadsCollaborate with senior architects and developers to design and implement improvementsDocument findings and performance baselines for future analysisHelp automate monitoring and alerting tools in the cloudQualifications4+ years working with Microsoft SQL Server in a developer, DBA, or analyst roleSolid understanding of T-SQL, execution plans, and query performance tuning familiarity with Azure SQL, Amazon RDS, or other cloud database platformsGood problem-solving and communication skillsTechnical Skills:Microsoft SQL Server Expertise: Strong proficiency in SQL and related database technologiesKnowledge of data and analytical cloud platform solutionsKnowledge of tools and techniques to analyze performance of SQL solutionsSoft Skills:Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within cross-functional teamsEagerness to learn and grow within a high-performing teamCommunication: Strong communication skills, especially in client-facing interactions, with English as the primary languageEducational Background:A Bachelor or Master of Science in Computer Science or a related field is requiredAt Escher, you'll be part of a global team with employees on four continents supporting customers from across 35 countries.
