About the role
We have great opportunity for a Laboratory Technician in our Kerry site in Charleville, Co. Cork.
This is a full time, seasonal role.
Hours of work involve a 3 cycle shift pattern consisting of 0800 - 1600 / 1600 - 1200 / 1200 - 0800 plus shift allowance of 25%.
The hours may change in the summer to 12 hour shifts working 4 on 4 off (2 days and 2 nights).
In our Kerry Ingredients site in Charleville, we have around 140 employees and we produce articles like skim milk powder for the infant and nutritional sector, functional dairy ingredients for the confectionary industry and a range of cheese powders for the savoury snack market.
The Laboratory Technician is based in our Powder Lab, within Milk intake. You will be responsible for testing and analysing product samples to ensure that the quality standards are met. Any previous experience as Lab Assistant, Lab Analyst, Quality Technician or QC Technician will be advantageous.
What will you be doing?
1. Analysing raw materials (conc etc), in process and finished product samples (whey, skim, milk powder etc) across the in-process lab.
2. Carrying out all laboratory activities in line with GLP and in-house requirements.
3. Complying with GLP/ GMP and safety requirements at all times.
4. Assisting with ensuring the laboratory is always adequately stocked with the consumables necessary to carry out the required analyses.
5. Recording all data relevant to each test and results and keeping all records up to date, clear and legible.
6. Performing basic instrument calibration, maintenance (LECO) and completion of associated records.
7. Participation in proficiency testing within scope of laboratory accreditations.
8. Maintaining the laboratory in a clean and well-organised status at all times.
9. Participation in audits (internal and external) and inspections.
10. Support site audits as required.
11. Any other duties required to fulfil role.
What do you need to be successful?
1. Chemistry / Analytical Lab experience is desirable but not essential.
2. Computer Literate – working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, SAP.
3. Proven ability to work on own initiative.
4. Proven ability to work within a quality control function, with attention to detail and compliance.
5. Ability to multitask.
6. Ability to deal with auditors, external parties as required.
