Job Title: Senior Clinical Engineering Technician
Reports to: Principal Clinical Engineering Technician
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational responsibilities
1. Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, electronic, IT problems/issues associated with medical devices using their knowledge, qualifications, training and/or experience in order to ensure maximum uptime of medical device equipment.
2. Contribute as required to the development of the department’s policies and services.
3. Provide maintenance services for electro medical equipment in respect of its functional, electronic, optical, electrical and mechanical aspects to a standard of safety, accuracy and reliability consistent with its function and with professional standards.
4. Assist with the co-ordination and implementation of the preventative schedule maintenance and safety programmes.
5. Advise on the selection, specification, acceptance testing, commissioning and safety of new equipment and services.
6. Participate in the implementation and on-going use of the SVHG Maintenance Management and Asset Register System (ECRI-AIMS) ensuring all equipment is maintained to relevant standards and appropriate records are available at all times.
7. Advise where required, on new technical installations/projects.
8. Support the nursing, medical, allied health care professionals and technical staff in the implementation of patient care involving technology.
9. Develop as required specialist fields of interest within the fields of Clinical Engineering.
10. Participate as required in education, training, the transition year programme and research programmes.
11. The holder of the post will be encouraged to obtain Professional Engineering Registration Status.
12. Provide user/staff training as necessary as part of CPD.
13. Partake in appropriate and relevant CPD.
14. Technical participation in SVHG and HSE/HBS tender programmes and procurement evaluation groups (PEG’s). Contribute as required to the National Equipment Replacement programme.
15. Actively participate in SVHG accreditation programmes, JCI and HIQA.
16. Partake in national professional societies e.g. BEAI, Engineers Ireland.
17. Proactively contribute to the development of the Clinical Engineering profession within SVHG.
