As an experienced electrician, you will have responsibility for the maintenance and breakdown of the electrical systems and equipment on site (motors, instrumentation, panels, etc.), including all improvements and upgrades, as well as new plant installations for electrical equipment as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
1. Be able to carry out electrical installations and maintenance of electrical supplies and systems, ensuring all work satisfies statutory and technical (IET) British Standards and Codes of Practice.
2. Cover more than one site. Complete installation, maintenance, improvement, and capital work to support chemical processes as necessary.
3. Maintain the electrical systems and equipment on site, including motors, instrumentation, panels, and all upgrades and new installations.
4. Maintain safety standards in accordance with company policies and IET regulations.
5. Perform reasonable duties as assigned by your line manager or team leader.
6. Represent the company positively to customers and suppliers.
7. Ensure compliance with all contractual employment obligations and ISO standards.
8. Participate fully in the company's performance management and development programs.
9. Maximize your ability to produce quality work on time, utilizing the best skills and available technology.
10. Work in accordance with the company's HR policies and procedures.
11. Ensure compliance with health and safety requirements.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
1. 18th Edition (BS7671:2018)
2. NVQ Level 3 Electro Technical Services in Electrical or BTEC National Certificate in Electrical Engineering
3. Knowledge of PLCs, 3-phase motors, fault finding, troubleshooting on industrial control systems, and understanding of electrical drawings.
4. Knowledge of building MMC panels is advantageous but not essential.
5. Ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical apparatus, including LV circuits, motors, power, and lighting, using test equipment.
6. Work with the Electrical Supervisor/Manager to implement effective preventive maintenance programs.
7. Coordinate with other engineers on electrical installations for specialized components and project completion.
8. Use blueprints, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer’s installation guidelines to complete projects.
