Location of the Post:
A panel may be formed for Health and Social Care Professions Assistant as a result of this campaign from which current and future, permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled in Community Healthcare East.
Purpose of the Post:
The role includes clinical and administrative duties that support therapists in providing a high-quality service to users.
The Health and Social Care Professions Assistant will:
1. Provide direct and indirect day-to-day care for people who are currently under the care of the Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Team.
2. Support the Multidisciplinary team (MDT) in providing a broad range of interventions following team assessment of the individual with neuro-rehabilitative needs. These interventions can include:
1. Assisting in rehabilitation exercises as provided by physiotherapist and/or occupational therapist.
2. Assisting in pelvic floor exercises and bladder retraining exercises as provided by nurse specialist.
3. Assisting in communication and/or swallowing exercises as provided by the speech and language therapist.
4. Assisting in personal care on short term basis for clients recovering from neurological injury.
5. Assisting social worker in arranging and assessing interventions to help maintain people’s social and mental well-being at home.
Recruitment Campaign
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an inter-disciplinary Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Team in CHO 6. This is a fulfilling role with team members being part of a multi-professional team providing specialised, intensive rehabilitation to those with neuro-rehabilitative needs as close to home as possible.
The CNRT will provide specialist, community-based Neuro-Rehabilitation. Key to the success of the CNRT will be an individual health professional’s ability to provide discipline-specific expertise and care, whilst working in an autonomous manner. Given the specialist nature of service delivery in the CNRTs ongoing learning, education and robust supervision structures are of paramount importance. Candidates must have sufficient specialist knowledge and expertise in the area of Neuro-Rehabilitation.
Background Context to Neuro-Rehabilitation Strategy
As part of the 'National Strategy and Policy for the Provision of Neuro-Rehabilitation Services in Ireland – Implementation Framework 2019-2021, the HSE are developing networks of Neuro-Rehabilitation Services. The overarching aim of the Strategy is the development of Neuro-Rehabilitation services to improve outcomes for people by providing safe, high quality, person-centred Neuro-Rehabilitation at the lowest appropriate level of complexity.
Description of the Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Team (CNRT) Service
The CNRT is an inter-disciplinary therapy team providing a specialised service for adults with a range of progressive or acquired neurological conditions. This is a multi-professional team including a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Psychology, Social Work, Nursing and Administrative staff.

A culture of life-long learning and development is nurtured in the Health Service. The CNRT post holders will be provided with supports to enhance professional development including time off to study and attendance at relevant courses.
