Site Safety Officer

We are seeking a dedicated Site Safety Officer to support our mission of maintaining the highest safety standards across our project sites.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining site documentation, conducting safety inspections, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor work activities to ensure safe working practices and adherence to method statements.
* Deliver comprehensive site induction training, covering site rules, procedures, and safety protocols.
* Advise contractors and workers on health and safety standards, recommending necessary improvements.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, including:
The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013, The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007
* Coordinate contractor activities and facilitate the communication of critical safety information.
* Act as the primary site contact for Health & Safety Authority (HSA) inquiries and emergency services.
* Investigate and document accidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
* Review and proofread method statements and contractor safety statements, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance.
* Provide ongoing reports to management on site safety performance, risks, and areas for improvement.
* Support the HSE corporate team.
* Conduct regular site inspections and provide support for larger projects.
Requirements:
* Minimum of 3-5 years' experience in a safety officer role within the construction industry.
* Relevant qualifications in Health & Safety, such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent diploma/certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
* Strong working knowledge of Irish health and safety regulations and industry best practices.
* Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to engage and influence site personnel.
* Ability to assess risks and implement practical, effective safety solutions.
* Strong attention to detail and report-writing skills.
* Ability to work independently while collaborating with site teams and stakeholders.
Desirable:
* Experience in safety roles across various construction environments.
* Manual Handling Instructor would be advantageous.
* Experience dealing with regulatory bodies such as the Health & Safety Authority (HSA).
