Our engineers are directly involved in the development of innovative products for use in medical procedures.The R&D Program Director is responsible for providing high-level leadership and direction to a New Product Development team, ensuring the implementation of strategic and tactical development activities supporting the Peripheral Vascular Health Business. In collaboration with a talented and passionate core team, you will develop our products and bring them to new markets and regions. Bring your leadership skills and passion for delivering best-in-class customer experience.This role is hybrid, with an expectation to be on site 3-4 days per week.A Day in The Life Of:The Core Team Leader on our key new product development projects, directing and managing a cross-functional team in project execution, including project scoping, resource and budget planning, risk mitigation, and stakeholder management.Continuously developing and advocating for creative strategies that improve time to market and reduce risk on development programs.Resolving issues and ensuring task completion by establishing priorities and reaching compromises with team members and functional managers.Communicating to business leadership about the progress and health of development activities.Overseeing and managing the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serving as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.Fostering technical innovation in staff members.Assessing project issues and developing resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.Ensuring requirements gathering, planning, and management meet the demands of the project’s key stakeholders.Building highly effective core teams, providing feedback and coaching to ensure effective team dynamics and mutual accountability.Facilitating engagement of the field and our customers to gain knowledge about product application and customer needs.Preparing, facilitating, and leading successful program phase reviews and updates to senior leadership review teams, including the PRC (Project Review Committee) and other business leadership forums.Accountable for project performance, risk management, financial management, budgeting, capital planning, financial and head-count forecasting, and issue resolution.Key Skills & ExperienceMinimum Level 8 Bachelor’s degree required.Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with 7+ years of managerial experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience and 7+ years of managerial experience.Minimum of 8 years of medical device product development experience.Excellent communication skills and interpersonal/team effectiveness, with the ability to communicate at various levels of the business.Experience in working with physicians to identify unmet therapy needs.Influence management skills; ability to build relationships and work cooperatively at all levels in the business.Demonstrated ability to show high integrity and gain the respect of peers and subordinates.Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills to effectively develop and execute comprehensive programs and budgets.Proven track record leading complex product development projects in Medtech companies.Flexibility to travel ~10% of the time is desirable.Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible Benefits Package.Physical Job RequirementsThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position, but are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.Benefits & CompensationMedtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible benefits package.
