Registrar in Haematology (Red Cell Disorders)
The Department of Haematology at St. James' Hospital is the largest teaching hospital in Ireland, and it provides a service to patients with Red cell disorders, General Haematology, Haematological malignancies, and Thrombosis and Haemostasis.
About the Role
This Registrar post contributes to a six-person team which includes four Specialist Registrars. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation of treatment for patients according to professional standards and under the supervision of the Consultant.
* Assess and diagnose patients with complex rare red cell disorders
* Develop and implement treatment plans in collaboration with the Consultant
* Communicate results of assessments and recommendations to patients and relevant others
* Foster close working relationships with colleagues and other professionals
* Participate in teams, communicating and working in collaboration with patients and other team members
Key Responsibilities
* Document all assessments, diagnoses, treatments, clinical notes, relevant contacts, and summaries in accordance with department and professional standards
* Attend clinics, participate in meetings, case conferences, and ward rounds
* Follow up on actions arising from the round and document findings on each patient's chart
* Maintain professional standards in relation to confidentiality, ethics, and legislation
* Seek advice and assistance from the Consultant as needed
Requirements
* Completed Basic Specialist Training in General Medicine
* Demonstrable commitment to Haematology Medicine
* Good decision-making and broad clinical knowledge base
* Clinical skills, awareness of patient safety and risk management issues
* Ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team
