The Opportunity
We are now seeking a Senior Policy Analyst to join our Future Power Markets team. The role of Senior Analyst will support EirGrid’s contribution to relevant developments at an EU and national level. The role holder will work with the team in areas including strategic European Regulations and Network Codes including the assessment of the impact of future changes on EirGrid systems and processes. The work involves the analysis of international regulatory and economic developments, solution proposals, preparing presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholder engagement and developing new policy positions. The candidate must be able to write and present effectively to convey complex concepts to a broad array of stakeholders up to and including executive management, government departments, regulators and EU TSOs.
The Team
The Future Power Markets team within EirGrid comprises of highly skilled professionals with backgrounds in engineering and business/commerce. Ireland has a target to achieve 80% of our electricity to come from renewable resources by 2030 and to be net carbon neutral by 2050. The Future Power Markets team is central to the delivery of our primary role – the future thinking development and enhancement of the wholesale electricity market. Creating a culture of innovative thinking whilst ensuring that EirGrid remains relevant at EU and national level.

About you
* Ability to translate policy and concepts into rules, codes and standards and vice versa.
* Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate technical concepts to a non-technical audience and to draft high quality written documentation.
* Third level qualification in political science, engineering, business other relevant discipline, ideally in the electricity industry.
* Excellent organisational skills and strong track record of delivery.
* Experience in a multidisciplinary team and excellent qualitative and quantitative analytical abilities, coupled with the ability to make reasoned judgements based on available information in a changing and dynamic environment.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work effectively as part of a team, capable of delivering shared goals with internal and external stakeholders through open dialogue, while also being able to define and guide own work under minimal supervision.
