We are now looking for a part-time Receptionist for our Elm Hall Nursing home. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your skills within our organisation.
Job Purpose
* Working with all departments and providing the best possible customer care and administration support.
* Providing a friendly environment where queries are handled professionally and with confidentiality.

* Respect for the individuality, dignity, autonomy and empowerment of the resident must underpin all activities and interactions undertaken during the course of their duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Ensuring that one's personal demeanour, attitudes and interactions are at all times professional in approach.
* Practice and promote Nursing home guidelines on hand washing and Infection Control to protect oneself and others.
* Adherence to guidelines on Absenteeism, Lateness, and sickness.
Job Description
* Responsible for the operation of the switchboard and redirect calls in a professional and courteous manner.
* Maintaining an organized office.
* Proficient use of MS Office and experience using Strandum is an advantage.
* Completing all the paperwork involved in admitting and discharging Residents.
* Inputting residents' details to ensure all files are up to date.
* Receiving and recording cash receipts. Issuing receipts to customers.
* Coordinating incoming and outgoing mail.
* Refer any queries regarding bed vacancies to the relevant manager.
* Filing residents' details and archiving old files.
* Ordering any supplies using the Company purchasing system.
* Coordinating complaints handling and compliance with Complaints policy.
* HR Support for Staff Audit Files.
Health and Safety Awareness
* Adherence to precautions identified in the infection control policy.
* Application of 'Manual Handling' Techniques as trained.
* Compliance with fire safety regulations.
* Compliance with the Safety statement with emphasis on ergonomics.
* Reporting any defects in equipment.
Communication and Relationships
* Directing any queries regarding residents' welfare to the Nursing staff.
* Working as part of the team.
* Attending Department meetings as required.
* Aware of all internal memos and directives by management.
* Maintaining an open and honest relationship with all departments including the kitchen, Activities, Maintenance, finance, Human Resources.
Administration and Continuous Improvement
* Attending mandatory training and other training as directed.
* Attending probationary meetings in the first 9 months of service with the nursing home.
* Aware of all policies and any changes or amendments that are made to the nursing home policies.
* Contributing to own personal development and attending training and development where needed.

Qualifications and Skills
* QQI/FETAC qualification OR relative experience in a similar environment.
* Prior experience as a receptionist or in a related field.
* Consistent, professional dress and manner.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Professional, caring and empathetic nature.
* Be comfortable working in a sometimes challenging environment.
