In Ireland, we employ around 6,000 people across ten sites located in Dublin, Donegal, Clonmel, Cootehill, Galway, Kilkenny, Longford and Sligo.
Abbott Ireland Diabetes Care Division Donegal
The Abbott Diabetes Care division based in Donegal Town manufactures FreeStyle blood glucose test strips and FreeStyle Sensors for use in diabetes management. Our leading brands include the FreeStyle Precision, FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Libre system.
Role Purpose:
As the Scientific Technical Lead, you will develop and manage technical change projects to drive continuous improvement and innovations. You will lead a team and ensure alignment on business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
* Testing, product variations, investigate changes to product, impact and reactions.
* Develop and manage technical change projects to enhance department efficiency and capability, aligning with business needs.
* Provide effective leadership, planning, inquiry, and communication skills.
* Collaborate with R&D, Site and Division Technical and Engineering, and Site and Division Quality Assurance to represent the site in both daily operations and long-term commitments.
* Spearhead project/program financial goals in support of business objectives.
* Investigate complex processes and problems to determine areas of improvement and risk.
* Provide mentoring and guidance regarding technical and organizational areas.
Qualifications and Experience:
* A 3rd level qualification in Engineering/Manufacturing/Science or equivalent related discipline is preferred. Electrochemistry qualification is preferable.
* 3 years of previous experience in a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical environment is preferred.
* 3-5 years of Technical Operations Supervisory experience is preferred.
* Skilled in effective leadership, planning, analysis, and communication.
* Strong technical decision-making and problem-solving skills.
