We are looking for a Litigation Solicitor to join our legal team on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team of experienced litigators who are a key part of the Irish Life legal team providing support to several diverse businesses across the Irish Life Group.
Applying your education, practical experience, and business knowledge, you will add value by providing key legal services and supporting all aspects of the litigation practice. You will focus on a wide range of life, health, and risk-related insurance work, along with various other issues that arise in a large life assurance company. You will be a key member of a legal team that provides practical and timely legal support to our business divisions on legal disputes and a range of other legal issues.
What you will help us to achieve
* Management of a varied caseload of litigation files.
* Providing timely advice, opinions, and support to our business partners on litigation and pre-litigation matters, including data access requests and other data-related queries.
* Attending on discoveries, mediations, settlements, and court appearances.
* Instructing and managing Counsel, drafting pleadings, briefs, and other court documentation.
* Contributing to strategic projects that support the businesses and the development of the litigation function.
* Participating and contributing to team and business partner meetings.
What you will need to be successful in the role
* Qualified in Ireland as a Solicitor with at least 4 years PQE in litigation, preferably including insurance defence litigation.
* Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to present issues clearly to key stakeholders and/or senior management.
* Strong drafting, legal, and communication skills with a practical solution-oriented approach.
* Excellent judgment with the ability to identify key issues and provide an independent view to management.
* Thorough understanding and up-to-date knowledge of court procedures.
* Ability to work as part of a team and independently manage your workload with well-developed organisational and time management skills.
* Motivated self-starter with the ability to work productively under pressure.
* Strong technical skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Pro, matter management, and document management software).
* Excellent interpersonal and client services skills; professional and positive demeanour.
