Mechanical Maintenance Technician
A leading global food and beverage manufacturer is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join its team. This company plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality food products safely and sustainably, serving a diverse customer base, including retailers, food manufacturers, and foodservice providers.
Role Overview:
We are now hiring for a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to support the efficient operation of the facility by carrying out a range of planned and reactive maintenance activities for a leading global food and beverage manufacturer in Kildare. This role is essential to ensuring that machinery and equipment function optimally, contributing to continuous production efficiency while maintaining high safety, quality, and hygiene standards. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with production teams and implement improvements to enhance operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Maintenance & Repairs – Conduct mechanical maintenance on plant equipment, performing both proactive and reactive repairs to minimize downtime in a fast-paced production setting.
2. Equipment Performance Optimization – Support process improvements that increase efficiency and machine reliability.
3. Process Enhancement – Work on optimizing systems to improve overall productivity.
4. Predictive Maintenance – Utilize modern diagnostic techniques such as thermography and vibration analysis to foresee potential failures and maintain equipment reliability.
5. Continuous Improvement – Contribute to ongoing development initiatives, assessing plant conditions and implementing maintenance best practices.
6. Maintenance Management Systems – Use digital tools to log maintenance activities, report issues, create work orders, and track completed work for continuous operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
1. A recognized qualification in mechanical engineering or a related field.
2. Proven experience in mechanical maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
3. Strong ability to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues.
4. Knowledge of conveyor systems, chain and belt-driven equipment, pneumatic systems, mixers, elevators, and filling/packaging machinery.
5. Some familiarity with automated systems, including HMIs and sensors.
6. Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety, though this is not an electrical role.
7. A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvements.
8. A strong commitment to workplace safety and regulatory compliance.
Shift Pattern:
The role follows a rotating two-week shift cycle:
1. Week 1: Monday – Thursday: 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
2. Week 2: Monday – Thursday: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
3. Fridays: Alternating between 6:00 AM – 1:00 PM and 1:00 PM – 8:00 PM
