About the Practice
Our 24-hour emergency and referral hospital is at the heart of veterinary care in Limerick. We provide:
1. Dedicated night and weekend services, 7 days a week, ensuring ongoing monitoring for hospitalised patients and accepting emergency referrals.
2. A trusted referral network, welcoming cases from veterinary practices throughout the Mid-West region.
3. A highly skilled and multidisciplinary team, committed to delivering outstanding patient care.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
1. Digital X-ray, Ultrasound, ECG, Oxygen therapy, Blood Pressure monitoring, Capnography, and Pulse Oximetry.
2. On-site IDEXX laboratory, clotting times, and EPOC (Blood-Gas Analysis) facilities for same-day results.
3. Large, purpose-built hospital space designed to support advanced medical and surgical cases.
4. Two consulting rooms for efficient patient flow.
5. Separate dog and cat wards, as well as dedicated isolation facilities.
6. One sterile operating theatre and a non-sterile procedures/treatment room with a tub table.
7. Highly qualified veterinary teams available on-site every evening from 8pm to 8am.
The Role
Full-time position, 4-day week (40 hours), 1:3 weekends on call. Work alongside two experienced vets currently undertaking surgical certificates, helping to develop a 7-day-a-week surgical referral service. Be at the forefront of our certificate-led surgical service, handling a wide variety of advanced surgical cases, including:
1. Soft Tissue: BOAS, liver/spleen biopsies, splenectomies, wound/lump reconstructions.
2. Orthopaedics: TPLO, TTA, TTT, fracture repairs (plates, screws, ESF, pins).
Help expand into complex fracture repairs, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, spinal surgeries, and more in a phased approach. Work with state-of-the-art surgical and imaging equipment, including DePuy Synthes drill and Securos systems. Play a key role in client education, referral marketing, and team training to develop both our internal and external referral caseload.
