Location: Clarin service is based in the Clarinbridge/Ballindereen area of Co. Galway and is roughly 15kms from Galway city. We provide day and residential services and individualised services to adults with varied support needs, based on personal outcome measures. Our focus is to form a relationship/partnership with each individual and their family to support people to be valued citizens in their local community and to have ordinary life experiences. We wish to create opportunities for people who use our service to have valued social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.
The Role:
The successful candidates will be involved in the development of a day service provision in Clarinbridge. They will also be responsible for implementing an educational, social, vocational, recreational and personal development programme for adults with an intellectual disability. In line with new directions and extended opening hours, the successful candidates will also provide family support, coordinate social groups and evening activities, and provide one-to-one supports in the community as required.
The successful candidates will also have responsibility in a key worker role for the individuals supported by the services to form links and interests and partnerships with other community groups. They will support individuals with all aspects of personal care required during the day, including meals, personal hygiene, and other related aspects of physical well-being, to the extent required by the individual.
Reporting/Responsible Works With:
People supported by the Services and Families, Multidisciplinary Team, Team Leader, Service Coordinator/Area Manager, Frontline Staff, GRETB Tutors, and networking with other groups and agencies in the community.
Qualifications/Experience:
Candidates should have a Level 7 qualification relevant to the health service or Community Studies in Business and Enterprise or in Arts and Drama, and at least 1 year of experience working with individuals with learning disabilities. Experience supporting people with Autism and those who can display challenging behaviors is essential. Experience in arts, sports, drama, music involvement, or having links and experience with community groups and participation is essential, along with a specific interest or experience in person-centered supports.
A full clean Driver’s Licence and fluency in verbal and written English are essential requirements for this post.
Working Hours:
78 hours per fortnight, based on a 7-day duty roster. Normal working hours will be Monday – Friday, but these posts will also involve occasional evening and weekend work to meet the needs of the people we support. Contracted hours of work will be from 8am to 8pm over 7 days to meet the requirements of the programme. The Brothers of Charity model of service is based on Personal Outcome Measures, requiring employees to be flexible in their working hours to provide quality service delivery for each individual.
22 days per annum.
Remuneration:
One position is permanent, full-time, and pensionable. Initial assignment is Clarin Day Services Kilcornan Clarinbridge. A probationary period of nine months from the date of appointment applies to the post. Employment may be terminated at any time during the probationary period should the employer find that the appointee is unsuitable to continue employment. The probation period may be extended at the Employer’s discretion.
