The current Language Plan has been developed over the past two years, with many exciting projects underway, including Irish language classes, the 'Gaelchara' scheme, a pre-enrolment course, an island development plan (mainly in Irish), a drama club, dance and singing classes, and community festivals.
The community is welcoming and thriving continuously.
We welcome applications from individuals with the following qualifications and experience:
* High proficiency in Irish, both spoken and written
* Good understanding and experience of language planning, community development, and consultation with committees/structures
* Experience in project management and implementation
* Excellent communication, facilitation, and coordination skills
* Experience in managing a team of workers
* Knowledge and experience of financial management
* Willingness to accept irregular working hours
* Third-level qualification in language planning or a related field
The salary for this position will range from €36,450 to €51,750 per annum.
This post can be shared with another person and worked part-time if desired.
Please submit your CV and covering letter to bainisteoir@discoverinisoirr.com before Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
A copy of the current language plan and further information are available on request from Comhar Caomhán Teo.
The language plan was prepared as part of the language planning process in the Gaeltacht under the provisions of the Gaeltacht Act, 2012.
There is one language plan for the Aran Islands. A language officer is stationed on each island and is responsible for implementing the actions outlined in the plan on that particular island. There is continuous cooperation between the three islands. This seven-year plan aims to increase the number of daily Irish speakers in the Language Planning Area.
The language officer will be responsible to the CEO of Comhar Caomhán. It is the organization's main responsibility to implement the language plan.
