Junior/Intermediate Setting Out Engineer (Timber Frame Housing Project) Location: Cork City, Ireland Project: 150 Timber Frame Housing Development Client: Busy Cork-based Developer Position Overview: We are looking for a Junior/Intermediate Setting Out Engineer to join our team on a significant 160-unit timber frame housing development in Cork City.
This role is perfect for someone with a passion for construction engineering who is keen to grow their skills on a large, high-profile project.
As part of a supportive team, youll assist with setting-out activities on site and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities: Setting-Out: Support the senior engineers in setting out all levels, positions, and lines on-site according to project plans and specifications.
Surveying: Assist with surveying tasks using total stations, laser equipment, and other surveying tools to ensure accurate site measurements.
Site Supervision: Work alongside site managers to monitor the progress of work and ensure that it aligns with engineering designs.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of site measurements, progress, and any variations from the original plans.
Coordination: Communicate with site teams, contractors, and the design team to help resolve any setting-out issues that may arise during the project.
Health & Safety: Follow all site health and safety regulations and promote safe working practices at all times.
Quality Control: Help ensure that all work complies with project specifications and quality standards.
Problem-Solving: Assist in identifying and resolving any issues related to setting-out or alignment under the guidance of more experienced engineers.
Learning & Development: Continuously improve technical knowledge and skills under the guidance of senior engineers and project managers.
Skills and Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Some experience or understanding of setting-out in a construction environment (ideally on residential or timber frame projects).
Familiarity with using setting-out instruments like total stations, GPS, or other surveying tools.
Knowledge of construction drawings and specifications.
Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with different stakeholders.
Motivated to learn and develop engineering skills on-site.
A proactive approach to problem-solving.
Full driving licence and own transport.
