Jennings O’Donovan & Partners Limited Consulting Engineers is an award-winning engineering consultancy business specialising in renewable energy and sustainability projects. Location: Sligo / Hybrid & some travel within Ireland
This position will involve a variety of renewable energy projects, working alongside a team of established in-house project managers, project engineers and technicians.
One of the leading renewable energy consultancies in Ireland, we are experts in advising utility, commercial and public clients on renewable energy project development from initial site screening through consent stages, construction, and operation. We have more than 90 staff in Sligo and working across Ireland. We have a track record of delivery and of maintaining great client relationships.
Our clients include international utility and independent power producers as well as Irish developers and operators of renewable energy and energy storage plants. Our engineers, environmental scientists and planners have worked on several onshore wind, solar and storage projects in excess of 3000 MW.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
* You will contribute to the creation of Civil & Structural drawings using cutting-edge 2D and 3D software, aligning with BIM requisites on relevant projects.
* Your role extends to project engineering, involving active participation in project meetings, harmonising design processes with the lead design engineer, and collaborating with the project manager to aid the planning and execution of civil & structural works.
* Support the management of civil & structural design by consultants in tandem with the in-house design and engineering team.
* Undertake civil & structural design for temporary and permanent works in accordance with relevant codes of practice and using industry standard software.
* Attend project meetings, coordinating design with the lead engineer and the project manager on planning and delivery of Civil & Structural works.
* Assist with Tendering.
* Travel to sites across the company portfolio as required for inspection of construction works.
* Ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations and Procedures.
* Set out works according to contract drawings, preparing drawings and calculations as required.
* Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365, and an interest in software and 3D modelling.
* Build relationships with Clients, Management team, consultants, engineers, external stakeholders, community etc.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Client interfacing.
We are seeking a motivated and talented individual to join our team as a Civil Design Engineer in the field of renewable energy. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the management and execution of renewable energy projects. The ideal candidate should possess the following qualifications and experience:
Candidate Profile Qualifications:
* Bachelor’s degree or master’s in a related field, such as engineering, renewable energy, or a relevant discipline.
* Any additional certifications or specialised training in the renewable energy sector is advantageous.
Required Experience:
* 5 years post qualification experience as a Civil Design Engineer in renewable energy or infrastructure deployment gained in a development company or consulting company.
* Proficiency in civil engineering software and tools.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Familiarity with local building codes and industry standards.
* Demonstrated problem-solving abilities.
* Precision and accuracy in design work.
* Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and an understanding of the renewable energy industry’s principles and trends.
* Problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise during project implementation.
* Ability to work well in a team environment and contribute to the success of projects.
* Time management skills to meet project deadlines and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
* Commitment to safety protocols and practices, especially in the renewable energy sector, where safety is paramount.
* Full driving licence (unfortunately public transport is generally not suitable for visiting the vast majority of project sites).
