Role Purpose:As the Engineering Stores Manager, your primary objective is to oversee and optimise the management of the engineering stores. You play a crucial role in overall plant reliability, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the stores, focusing on inventory management, continuous improvement, and compliance with safety standards.The Engineering Stores Manager is essential in driving positive change and optimizing stores management processes. By focusing on inventory management, continuous improvement, and compliance, you contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the Engineering department's operations.Reporting to:Maintenance ManagerKey Responsibilities: Developing and managing Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with suppliers securing quality of supply and ensuring cost controlRecruiting, performance managing and developing stores personnelWorking with stores team and site Health and Safety Lead to identify and manage safety risks associated with stores (direct reports) activities (examples include - manual handling, forklift usage)Leading daily meetingsBe the central point of technical advice and expertise relating to maintenance – engineering stores responsibilities / activities / escalated issues.Working with Maintenance-Engineering management to promote PEMAC (preventative maintenance (IT) system usageMaintain accurate inventory records in PEMAC, regularly auditing and updating to reflect changes in stock levels and item statuses.Develop and implement strategies to manage obsolescence, minimising its impact on inventory and operations.Lead efforts to rationalise stock items by identifying redundant or obsolete inventory, optimising stock levels, and reducing carrying costs.Implement robust processes for the identification, categorisation, and management of non-stock items, ensuring they are readily accessible when needed.Manage spare parts Master Data in PEMAC to ensure accuracy and accessibility.Collaborate with Engineering Technicians and other stakeholders to ensure efficient issuance of spare parts, consumables and materials.Cultivate and sustain strong relationships with all key stakeholders involved in the engineering stores, prioritising customer satisfaction as a fundamental goal for the entire stores team.Utilise inventory management systems to streamline processes, improving accuracy and efficiency.Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, ensuring a safe working environment within the stores.Lead continuous improvement initiatives within the stores management, focusing on enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.Provide training and support to stores personnel on continuous improvement methodologies and best practices.Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the Engineering department, encouraging feedback and participation from team members.Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, sharing insights and progress on continuous improvement initiatives.Regularly update on defined KPIs and other performance metrics.Conduct Reports, KPI’s, and Data analysis to monitor and improve performance.Implement and manage Inventory Control processes to ensure accurate tracking and management of stock.Develop and execute an Inventory Optimisation strategy to reduce costs and improve efficiency.Implement and enforce procedures for signing out parts to ensure accountability and prevent loss.Working with Maintenance-Engineering management to support development and embedding of preventative maintenance culture.Competencies:Customer Focus – is dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first-d customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust.Timely Decision Making – makes decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure; able to make a quick decision.Managing and Measuring Work – clearly assigns responsibility for tasks and decisions; sets clear objectives and measures; monitors process, progress, and results; designs feedback loops into work.Organizing – can marshal resources (people, funding, material, support) to get things done; can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal; uses resources effectively and efficiently; arranges information and files in a useful manner.Priority Setting – spends time on what’s important, eliminates roadblocks; creates focus.Interested candidates should ideally possess:Relevant diploma/degree level qualification would be beneficial.Experience in implementing new procedures and processes within a stores environment.Proven technical skills and strong commercial acumen.Excellent IT skills.Strong Project Management skillset.Exceptional attention to detail.A work history of contributing and adding value to overall performance.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Strong influencing skills and demonstrated ability to lead a team.
