Position Overview
The VP/Director will work in a team environment with other StepStone team members focusing on research and advisory. StepStone prides itself on its collegial atmosphere, encouraging team-building initiatives and a collaborative approach to projects. The VP/Director will interact with all levels of the Firm, from Partners to Analysts, daily.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Research (encompasses research on Primary Funds, Separately Managed Accounts, Secondaries, and Co-Investments):
2. Assess marketing materials of prospective fund managers to identify key value drivers and areas for further investigation.
3. Interpret financial analyses prepared by target fund managers, including investment track records and financial statement analysis.
4. Develop arguments regarding investment decisions and communicate them efficiently in written materials; defend positions in a team environment, including Investment Committee meetings.
5. Write Fund Summaries and Investment Memorandums in line with StepStone standards.
6. Analyze data and test hypotheses regarding the attractiveness of specific sectors and investment opportunities.
7. Form an independent opinion about the attractiveness of investment opportunities and clearly articulate findings.
8. Monitor the performance of the firm's existing fund managers and underlying investments; participate in meetings with assigned managers and conduct ongoing due diligence.
9. Interact directly with clients allocating to Private Debt, including calls and meetings; present research views and discuss investment strategies and opportunities convincingly.
10. Develop and present portfolio allocation and cash flow models using StepStone portfolio construction tools consistent with client risk and return requirements.
11. Construct investment guidelines for client mandates; develop portfolio allocations, sizing guidelines, and construct investment pipelines.
12. Regularly monitor client portfolio performance; convincingly communicate performance to clients.
13. Support Sales and Client Support teams on Requests for Proposals (RFPs), preparing client portfolio materials, and addressing queries regarding portfolio construction and investment suitability.
14. Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience.
15. Fluent in German.
16. Ability to represent the firm credibly in written and interpersonal communications.
17. Leadership potential.
18. High proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
19. Flexibility – StepStone is dynamic; all professionals are expected to perform multiple functions.
20. Ability to promote and demonstrate a positive, team-oriented attitude.
21. Experience in valuation and investment analysis.
