Senior Product Design Engineer
Division: Vascular
We are a leading healthcare company with almost 3,000 employees across 10 sites in Ireland. Our diverse product range includes diagnostics, medical devices, nutritionals, and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Our vascular division is focused on advancing the treatment of vascular disease and improving patient care by combining medical device innovations with pharmaceuticals.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the Clonmel-based VC R&D team in product design activities for both new and on-market VC products.
* Providing product design-focused technical direction to cross-functional teams.
* Liaising with stakeholders and senior management to ensure successful delivery of R&D programs.
* Collaborating with internal and external partners, ensuring clear understanding of expectations and deliverables.
* Ensuring timely delivery of R&D programs.
* Leading the VC R&D team in planning and executing complex product development programs from conception to launch.
* Managing product builds and testing as required.
* Preparing for and leading cross-functional team design and technical reviews with senior management.
* Developing and sourcing appropriate materials and technologies for medical device design and construction.
* Providing technical guidance and direction to R&D program team members.
* Generating and maintaining technical documentation in line with the Quality Management System and regulatory requirements.
* Building and developing product design knowledge and capability within the VC R&D team.
* Incorporating state-of-the-art design solutions into product development activities.
* Providing regular input, updates, and direction to staff on technical topics and issues.
Requirements:
* NFQ Level 8 qualification in a product design-related discipline with 5+ years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
* Proven track record of successfully leading product design and development activities from conceptualisation to commercial launch.
* Good working knowledge of medical device materials and processes.
* Proficiency in AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
* Significant working knowledge of technologies for prototype design and generation.
* Demonstrated analytical problem-solving abilities.
* Demonstrated people management skills and experience.
* Strong interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively as a team lead and team member.
