Location: Cork site
This is a full-time, shift position for Maintenance Engineer in our Cork site.
Job Purpose:
* Responsible for carrying out preventative maintenance activities.
* Day to day, the Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the resolution, monitoring and recording of the maintenance breakdowns and breakdown follow ups.
* Responsible for delivering a high quality maintenance service to production. The Engineer must ensure that maintenance works efficiently, effectively and safely.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Electrical and Mechanical trouble-shooting.
* Providing maintenance support, entering data, updating equipment records, producing performance reports and participating in continuous improvement follow up.
* Cost control consciousness.
* Electro-mechanical repairs to high-speed, PLC-controlled plant, handling and packaging equipment, also pneumatic and hydraulic control systems.
* Technical support for the plant facilities and services.
* Performance of PM routines.
* Support Production Team in achieving targets.
* Closely monitor line and machine performance and intervene on line as soon as any deterioration in performance occurs.
* Work with equipment suppliers on new equipment and installations and modifications.
* To be observant & work off your own initiative when a fault is detected & to take action based on your best judgment on whether to effect immediate repair or not.
* Co-operate and participate fully in training and development in cross-skilling and other job-related competencies.
* Troubleshooting using PLC Programs.
* Responsible for completion of your planned work, shifts daily input and control of breakdowns.
* Observing all onsite and legislative rules and regulations in terms of Health and Safety.
* Using all resources such as manuals, service contacts etc to aid in breakdown recovery.
* Adheres to all site policies on quality and safety (e.g. clean overalls, clean work boots, hair nets, hearing protection, hand washing, door closing etc.).
* Adheres to site policy directives on environmental issues, i.e. Control and use of oils and greases, disposal of lights, batteries.
* Control of contractors and acting as Liaison Person as and when required.
Key Skills and Experience
* Possess relevant trade qualification (Electro / Mechanical).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience in similar role in manufacturing environment.
* Possess mechanical and electrical maintenance experience and/or qualifications.
* Excellent awareness and experience in relation to Quality, Health and Safety.
* Be familiar with planned preventative maintenance.
* Experienced in fault finding and problem solving.
* Knowledge of high-speed mechanical systems, electrical systems, automation and PLC control systems would be an advantage.
* Knowledge and experience in Maintenance strategy, Maintenance organisation and systems.
Safe Systems of Work
* Employees must adhere to all Health & safety policies and procedures and report any concerns or issues to their manager asap.
* Employees must never override any safety device.
* Employees must report any potential hazards identified in the course of their daily work, for example during breakdowns or when carrying out PM’s.
* Employees must conduct themselves in a work safe manner at all times.
* Employees must follow all fire safety evacuation instructions.
* All corrective actions need to be actioned immediately.
* Behave in a responsible and professional manner respecting all employees at all times.
* Cooperate fully with training ensuring full understanding of all operations, SOP’s (standard operating procedures).
* Work effectively and efficiently completing work to the highest standards.
* All issues need to be reported as soon as they occur so the issue can be managed. Please ensure clear communication and full details are given.
* All accidents, incidents, near misses and safety concerns must be reported to the manager without delay.
* Practice good manual handling at all times using 2 people lifts as and when required assessing all lifts and loads.
