We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Nursing to lead a nursing care home in Carlow, Ireland, overseeing all aspects of the program to ensure consistently excellent resident care.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and serve as an on-call resource, providing assistance, counsel, and direction. They will also plan and oversee the on-call schedule with CNMs and deputy home manager(s), setting an exemplary example and promoting a person-centered approach that aligns with our nursing home's philosophy and values.
This key role involves participating in the hiring, selection, orientation, management, and oversight of all new employees, working closely with department heads and staff members responsible for nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, and catering. To succeed in this position, the Director of Nursing must be able to interact effectively with residents, family members, colleagues, management, and other organizations such as HIQA, HSE, and general practitioners.
Responsibilities
* To oversee every aspect of the program to guarantee consistently excellent resident care.
* To serve as an on-call resource for the home, offering assistance, counsel, and direction.
* To plan and oversee the on-call schedule with CNMs and deputy home manager(s).
* To set an exemplary example and serve as a role model for staff, encouraging a person-centered approach that is the cornerstone of the philosophy and values upheld in the nursing home.
* To participate in the hiring, selecting, orienting, managing, and overseeing of all new employees.
* To oversee and assist all department heads, as well as the personnel in charge of nursing, housekeeping, maintenance, and catering.
Requirements
1. A registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
2. Proof of ongoing professional growth.
* A post-registration management degree in medicine or a similar discipline.
o At least three years of experience caring for elderly patients within the preceding six years.
+ Three years or more of management experience in the health and social care sector.
# The capacity to interact with residents, family members, coworkers, management, and other organisations including HIQA, HSE, and general practitioners in an effective manner.
* It is quite beneficial to get post-registration training in gerontology and dementia care.
