YMCA Dublin has been working with young people in Dublin’s Inner City for 175 years. We run programmes in youth work, education, family support, community childcare, and community employment. To support our services, we run two social enterprises – Dublin YMCA Gym and YMCA Childcare in Aungier Street.
This is a Community Employment position aimed at developing the experience, confidence, and qualifications necessary to secure full-time paid employment.
This position is to help care for school-aged children between the ages of 5-12 years in YMCA Dublin’s after-school services.
The working hours will be Monday - Thursday between the hours of 1pm - 5pm daily and 1pm - 4.30pm on Friday.
You will work alongside our school age childcare and youth work teams under the supervision of the School Aged Childcare Coordinator.
Key Tasks involve:
* Practical training and experience in playwork activities.
* Assisting with daily school collections and drop-offs.
* Engaging with children appropriately during after-school sessions.
* Acting as a positive role model for children.
* Developing and facilitating play activities, such as arts and crafts, with the children.
* Supervising the children on outdoor trips to local parks and playgrounds, as well as our own YMCA playground and sports hall.
* Working with team members to plan weekly programmes and daily activities.
* Assisting in completing daily checklists and observations.
* Undertaking training where necessary, as outlined by the YMCA.
Desirable but not essential: Full, clean driving licence, and willingness to drive a minibus for school pick-ups.
