Job Title: Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor of AI for Advanced Manufacturing
The School of Mechanical & Materials Engineering at the University College Dublin (UCD) is seeking a talented individual to fill the position of Ad Astra Fellow - Assistant Professor of AI for Advanced Manufacturing.
We are looking for applicants with a strong background in Artificial Intelligence (AI), including machine learning, digital twins, smart manufacturing systems, AI-driven optimization, predictive analytics, robotics, or autonomous systems.
Apart from AI expertise, we also value experience in working or collaborating with manufacturing companies to address efficiency and sustainability issues in sectors such as precision engineering, aeronautics, medical device, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic and research-driven school with a clear focus on delivering excellent teaching programmes. The School has a strong track record of academic achievement, with six academic staff currently holding ERC awards.
We offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including a 4-year Bachelor of Engineering (BE) programme in Mechanical Engineering, several full-time Master's programmes, and specialist one-year Master's programmes in Robotics & Intelligent Manufacturing, Materials Science & Engineering, and Engineering Management.
The successful candidate will contribute to the School's outstanding success in Advanced Manufacturing, which includes being home to the Research Ireland-funded I-Form National Centre for Advanced Manufacturing Research. This Centre has over 70 PhD and post-doctoral researchers and academics from 9 institutions across Ireland.
As an Ad Astra Fellow, you will have the opportunity to work on exciting projects related to digitisation of manufacturing and the role AI plays in this process. You will also be part of a vibrant community that values collaboration, innovation, and excellence in teaching and research.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct research and develop your own research agenda in AI for Advanced Manufacturing.

Requirements:
