Grade Level (for internal use): 09
CREDit Graduate Program Analyst - Structured Finance
Programme Overview:
When you join S&P Global Ratings, you join one of the world's leading providers of independent credit risk research and benchmarks. You are part of a team that produces high quality fundamental research based on established criteria.
Our CREDit Graduate Program is a two-year training and development opportunity with our next intake joining us in September 2025. CREDit Program Analysts are hired for a specific practice, however they are expected to transition between practices as dictated by business demands. In their first year CREDit analysts focus on acquiring skills and knowledge from their home practice. In their second year CREDit analysts gain exposure to other practices through a mix of classroom training and small projects or short-term secondments. All analysts combine practical work experience with the completion of a relevant qualification. For example, this could be the CFA.
The Practice:
Structured Finance: Structured finance involves the analysis of various structured products that are backed by pools of assets. The analysis will typically involve assessing the creditworthiness of these assets and performing cashflow analysis to determine the ratings we could potentially assign to the financial instruments backed by the assets. Within this practice you will gain a good understanding of the various asset classes of the structured finance universe such as RMBS (Residential Mortgage-Backed Securities), CMBS (Commercial Mortgage-Backed Securities), ABS (Asset-Backed Securities), CDOs (Collateralized Debt Obligations), Covered Bonds or CLOs (Collateralized Loan Obligations), and a more detailed understanding of at least one of these. By working in the SF practice, you will gather exposure to various counterparties operating in this space, from arrangers and originators to trustees and legal teams.
Key Responsibilities:
* Conduct credit and cashflow analysis to determine default and recovery probabilities for the required structured product.
* Support colleagues in assessing the operational risk, counterparty risk and legal risks to gain a broad understanding of the entire process behind assigning a Structured Finance rating.
* Provide timely and precise quarterly and/or annual financial statistics and data analysis, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
* Assist in the preparation and presentation of analysis and recommendations by senior team members to credit committees.
* Work closely with colleagues to provide research and analysis for the Structured Finance team.
* Transition between practices based on business need during the program and post program.
What We're Looking For:
Required Qualifications and Experience:
* Completion of a minimum undergraduate degree by August 2025, with a strong academic record.
* Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office products (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
* A proactive mindset and adaptability.
* Intellectual curiosity and a keen interest in learning and applying new knowledge in credit analysis.
* Ability to conduct independent analysis and research.
* Strong relationship-building skills and effective communication.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Demonstrated problem-solving, time-management, attention to detail, and organizational abilities.
* Fluency in English and the primary language of the hiring location.
Additional Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
* Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, R, VBA, and/or MATLAB.
* Familiarity with AI technologies or tools.
