Arboretum, Ireland’s award-winning Garden and Lifestyle Centre, is looking for a Retail Horticultural Manager in our Leighlinbridge Store in Carlow to lead and grow our vibrant horticulture department.

Key Responsibilities
1. Lead, train and support a team of eleven employees to provide outstanding customer service and plant care advice.
2. Day-to-day management and co-ordination of team members, ensuring they are carrying out their assigned tasks to the required standards.
3. Oversee and manage the DIY Department within the Garden Centre.
4. Manage stock, including ordering, goods inward, merchandising, and stock control to maintain a vibrant and well-stocked retail space.
5. Implement sales strategies, promotions, and seasonal product planning.
6. Foster strong relationships with customers, providing expert guidance tailored to their needs, and resolving any customer queries in a timely manner.
7. Manage budgets, sales targets and performance metrics to drive business growth.
8. Ensure all relevant POS, plant labelling and displays are correct and up to date.
9. Maintain a clean, organised and visually appealing store environment.
10. Ensure the health and quality of plants through proper care, handling and maintenance.
11. Oversee and manage Health and Safety requirements for the garden centre/DIY retail areas.
12. Keep up to date with current product knowledge and consumer trends.
The Ideal Candidate
1. Retail Management or Supervisory experience, preferably in a garden centre background or horticultural background.
2. A Horticultural qualification, with the ability to demonstrate a strong knowledge in gardening and plant care.
3. Experience leading teams, mentoring staff, and creating a positive and productive workplace culture.
4. A strong Customer-focus, with a genuine interest in helping customers find the right plants and products for their needs.
5. Detail-oriented to ensure plants are well-maintained, displays are inviting, and operations run smoothly.
6. Excellent communication skills when dealing with customers and team members.
