Position Description This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to lead a dynamic, commercial and customer focused team.
This role is key in managing the trading and risk activities of the ESB Customer Solutions business, most notably the Electric Ireland and So Energy businesses.
The Trading Risk team work closely with the Pricing & Trading team to ensure that the trading strategies implemented across Electric Ireland and So Energy are effective for the business and operate properly to deliver strong business performance and cost-effective customer solutions.
The successful candidate will lead a small professional team which partners effectively with the business and will play a key role in ensuring that the ESB Customer Solutions business has a robust governance and control framework for its trading activities.
Key Responsibilities Trading Oversight – responsible for monitoring all trading activities, managing trading positions, acting in accordance with approved trading strategies and relevant risk controls & limits within Electric Ireland and So Energy.
Governance Reporting - play a lead role in supporting all aspects of trading's governance arrangements including coordinating all oversight committees.
Reporting – lead the provision of all required reporting on trading activities, including trading exposures, hedging positions, counterparty positions and credit limits.
Provide baseline energy costs analysis to estimate the expected value of Electric Ireland's trading electricity and gas portfolios.
Hedging Support – coordinate with the Pricing & Trading teams to develop and implement hedging strategies to deliver margin expectations and appropriate risk management within Electric Ireland and So Energy.
New Product Support – support the business in new product development, evaluating trading and hedging strategies ensuring risks are sufficiently managed and premiums applied as appropriate.
Support organisational change initiatives and projects.
Team Leadership – provide guidance and support to the team in supporting the business, including in formulating market views and appropriate trading responses.
Experience and Qualifications Relevant degree-level qualification.
A minimum of 7-10 years relevant experience in risk, trading, governance or similar areas.
Desirable A commercial mind setStrong interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
An ability to act independentlyStrong knowledge of the Irish energy marketSome knowledge of the GB energy marketA clear understanding of key governance principles and risk management practicesKnowledge of trading practices and systems would be an advantage.
Location This position will be based in Dublin.

The successful candidate may work flexibly within their jurisdiction with attendance at the workplace for in-person collaboration on at least two anchor days per week.
