Mechanical & Electrical Project Manager
As the M&E Project Manager / Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in construction management, ensuring that mechanical (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems) and electrical (e.g., power distribution, lighting, and IT communication wiring) components are specified, coordinated, and installed according to project specifications. This position bridges the gap between design, construction teams, and clients, ensuring that the M&E and ICT systems work together seamlessly. Client-side position, with a State Organisation in the Medical Sector.
Salary: €75,000 - €80,000 plus expenses, mileage, 30 days annual leave plus bank holidays. Standard working week is Monday to Friday, 35 hours (business hours).
Required Skills:
1. Strong understanding of M&E systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical wiring, ICT wiring, and fire protection.
2. Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using CAD or BIM (Building Information Modelling) software.
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills to manage multiple teams and tasks.
4. Problem-solving skills to address issues during the design and construction phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Coordination:
1. Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to review M&E design plans, specifications, and drawings.
2. Conduct in situ / above ceiling surveys to ensure that all new ICT wiring and containment installations meet design, safety, and quality requirements.
3. Ensure that M&E systems are designed and installed in accordance with the design documents and that ICT cabling and containment can be installed in a coordinated manner with existing systems and building fire compartmentalization.
4. Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure the scheduled installation of new ICT wiring and containment systems throughout a building campus or standalone buildings.
5. Witnessing of S/N testing of new ICT wiring systems post installation.
6. Compiling Handover and 'As built' documentation for the various projects.
Constructability Reviews & Compliance:
1. Review and interpret technical service routing drawings (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) to ensure compliance with the project’s design intent, building codes, and industry standards.
2. Re-route ICT wiring & containment for additional/new ICT wiring within the constraints of existing services distribution.
3. Identify potential conflicts between M&E systems and ICT wiring and resolve them before installation.
4. Ensure compliance with local regulations, codes, and safety standards.
5. Oversee the installation of M&E / ICT systems on-site to ensure quality and adherence to specifications.
6. Act as the point of contact between the project team, subcontractors, and clients for all M&E / ICT-related issues.
7. Facilitate coordination meetings to ensure that all parties are aligned on design changes, timelines, and expectations.
Problem-solving & Troubleshooting:
1. Proactively identify potential problems with mechanical or electrical systems before they occur.
2. Troubleshoot issues during the construction phase, ensuring they are resolved quickly to avoid project delays.
Documentation & Reporting:
1. Maintain up-to-date records of M&E / ICT designs, specifications, and installation progress.
2. Prepare reports on project status, key issues, and milestones for the project management team.
Requirements to apply:
1. Have had 5 - 7 years’ satisfactory & relevant experience in planning, design, project management or construction of buildings or in the installation or maintenance of the mechanical, electrical, and heating services of such buildings to include ICT Wiring and containment.
2. (i) Hold a Level 8 (or higher) Quality & Qualifications Ireland (QQI) major academic award in Architecture, Engineering, or Surveying accredited by the relevant Professional Institute (Society of Chartered Surveyors in Ireland, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, Engineers Ireland, Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland).

2. Engineers Ireland - either a Full Member or a Chartered Member of Engineers Ireland. Associate Membership, Student Membership, or any affiliated membership of Engineers Ireland will not be accepted.
