Dublin Dental University Hospital Specialist Oral Surgeon
The Dublin Dental University Hospital seeks a Specialist Oral Surgeon to join our Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology Team. This is a Fixed-Term/Part-Time Position, 0.5 WTE, over 3 days a week.
Role Summary:
To provide complex oral surgery treatment to patients attending the Dublin Dental University Hospital, and those external hospitals or clinics approved by the Dublin Dental University Hospital;
To participate in the administrative organisation and delivery of oral surgery services and teaching under the overall direction of the Head of Division.
Key Responsibilities:
* Enable students to develop their clinical skills while taking responsibility for patient management and, above all, patient safety;
* Ensure that teaching and learning are fully integrated into the clinical experience from the student's perspective;
* Provide regular and appropriate feedback for students and endeavour to provide the necessary support when required;
* Undertake to provide assessment of students when required and award accurate and appropriate clinical credits for each student after each clinical session;
* Have timely interaction with staff to relay relevant information regarding individual student issues;
* Successful candidates are required to maintain an appropriate knowledge of the undergraduate curriculum and information technology involved in the curriculum;
* Participate in the administrative organisation and delivery of teaching and training to undergraduates, postgraduates;
* Participate in clinical audits;
* Carry out such other duties appropriate to the office as may be assigned from time to time by the Head of Division, Clinical Director, Dean, or other designated office;
* Knowledge and understanding of all Policies and Procedures within the Hospital, using our QPulse incident, risk management system as a key component of maintaining and managing incidents and risks associated.
Qualifications and Experience:
Candidates must have:
a) (i) Be registered in the Register of Dentists for Ireland or be entitled to be so registered and;
(ii) Be registered in the Register of Dental Specialists for Ireland, Division of Oral Surgery, or be entitled to be so registered; and;
b) Have satisfactory knowledge of the administrative aspects of oral surgery services; and;
c) Possess a high standard of professional knowledge and have had satisfactory experience in oral surgery and medically complex patients; and
d) Possess the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and of administrative capacity) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
Post holders must maintain annual registration with the Dental Council of Ireland.
