Howden is seeking a Consultant who will be responsible for advising clients within the Asset Management industry sector on their employee benefits programs, with a preferred specialist knowledge of Group Risk. This opportunity is to join a dynamic division within Howden Employee Benefits and Wellbeing, servicing over 350 clients in the sector.
You will be expected to manage client relationships and manage policies in Group Risk, as well as develop new opportunities across the broad spectrum of Employee Benefits. Managing a portfolio of clients and the responsibility to deliver a personal account development new business budget. You will partner with specialist consultants in Healthcare and Pensions and have the support of our Operations team to work collaboratively to deliver a market leading service proposition to clients in this specific market.
This is a full-time, permanent opportunity that has the flexibility to work from any of our UK offices following a hybrid work pattern (or you may be fully remote with the expectation of being onsite once per month and at client sites ad hoc).
Role Responsibilities:
1. Be the first point of contact for clients. Understand the sector and benefits offered. Be prepared to respond quickly and accurately to client queries.
2. Builds a robust system for ensuring appropriate management of consultancy (and oversee day to day administration) tasks including proactive follow up with clients and insurers, keeping appropriate colleagues appraised at all times.
3. Build and lead the relationship with a portfolio of Asset Management clients whilst providing advice on specifically on Group Risk and associated insurance products and services.
4. Provide all technical advice to clients on the policies you are responsible for, seeking assistance from colleagues where appropriate.
5. Work closely with the Asset Management Operations Team to ensure all renewal, reviews, claims and medical underwriting are completed in a timely manner to meet clients’ needs.
6. Proactively build on existing external relationships with clients, prospects and insurers.
7. Hold a broad knowledge of insurers’ propositions and differences to provide the most appropriate advice for clients.
8. Collaborate with Howden colleagues across Health & Benefits and the wider group to encourage client referrals and deliver new business proposals. This is a cross-referral process and we equally encourage you to develop opportunities for referral into our colleagues globally and in the general insurance markets.
Role Requirements:
9. You will need to be proficient in advising clients in Group Risk, along with a basic knowledge of broader Employee Benefits. In addition (albeit not essential) you will have an awareness of the other areas of business where the group could support in the General Insurance sector.
10. Detailed knowledge and understanding of group risk policies, primarily death in service, income protection, critical illness and other employee benefits.
11. Experience in consultancy or administration. You can create, write and manipulate template reports.
12. You take ownership of your portfolio and proactively manage the associated workload, flagging client risks and opportunities.
13. CII GR1 qualified, preferred
