The School of Chemical Sciences at DCU invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in electrochemistry, electroanalytical chemistry, and electrochemiluminescence for biosensor (immunosensor) development, focusing on the detection of pathogenic bacteria. Essential experience includes practical applications in electrochemistry, sensor development, and antibody-based biosensors.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
* Conduct and deliver a programme of research to the highest standard under the supervision of the Principal Investigators (PIs).
* Support the PIs in project planning to ensure all milestones and deliverables are met.
* Assist other PD researchers and PhD students.
* Supervise undergraduate students working in this area.
* Provide weekly updates and a monthly written report on progress.
* Engage in teaching and teaching support as directed by the Head of School.
* Compile, analyse, and interpret project data using specific software packages.
* Produce a full report and presentation at the end of the contract.
* Support ongoing communication and dissemination efforts.
* Liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
* Engage in appropriate training and development opportunities.
* Carry out necessary administrative work associated with the research programme.
Minimum Requirements:
* The successful candidate must have a PhD in Electroanalytical Chemistry, electrochemistry, or related areas.
Knowledge in one or more of the following areas is required: (bio)chemical sensing, bacteria culture, biomarker detection, assay development, and electrochemical sensor manufacture.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Postdoctoral experience in electrochemical biosensor development.
* Knowledge in electrochemistry/electrochemiluminescence.
* Strong work ethic and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work independently.
* Proven ability to work in a team and innovate in a multi-stakeholder environment.

Compliance Training: The postholder will be required to undertake essential compliance training.
Salary Scale: IUA Postdoctoral Researcher Salary Scale - €44,847 - €57,332, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
