Charlene Murphy Farm is seeking an experienced and motivated Farm Manager to oversee the daily operations and long-term planning of our farm in Gortnaskehy, Araglin, Cork.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing livestock, crops, farm staff, and overall farm productivity while ensuring best practices in animal welfare, sustainability, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities: Farm Operations Management: Oversee all aspects of farm operations, including livestock, crop production, pasture management, and farm infrastructure maintenance.
Livestock Management: Ensure proper care, feeding, health, and welfare of all livestock on the farm.
Implement breeding programs and manage animal records.
Crop & Grassland Management: Plan and manage crop rotations, soil fertility, and grazing systems to maximize yields and maintain sustainability.
Staff Supervision & Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise farm workers, ensuring a productive and motivated workforce.
Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all farm activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Financial & Budget Management: Prepare and manage farm budgets, track expenses, and optimize costs while maintaining profitability.
Machinery & Equipment Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance and proper use of all farm machinery and equipment.
Record Keeping & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of livestock, crops, financials, and farm activities.
Prepare reports as needed.
Essential Requirements: Proven experience in farm management or a similar agricultural leadership role.
Ability to work 39 hours per week.
Strong knowledge of livestock and crop management practices.
Ability to lead a team and work independently.
Strong problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills.
Knowledge of farm machinery operation and maintenance.
Familiarity with modern agricultural technologies and sustainability practices.
Excellent record-keeping and financial management skills.
A full, clean driving license.
Preferred Qualifications: A degree or diploma in Agriculture, Farm Management, or a related field.
Experience with dairy, beef, or mixed farming systems.
Previous experience in budgeting and business planning.
