Job Description:
Cross Agricultural Engineering is offering a full-time apprenticeship in Metal Fabrication to 6 candidates who are looking to start a career in this field. This program is conducted by Cross along with SOLAS (the official training body).
Apprenticeship: Metal Fabrication
Payment: Discussed at interview stages
Terms: Full time / Training programme
Cross Agricultural Engineering Ltd. is currently seeking 6 candidates to enroll in our apprenticeship program based at the Cross factory in Rathangan, Co. Kildare.
About the Company: Cross is a leading engineering company specializing in the design and manufacturing of farm, biogas, commercial, and food processing machinery. We offer a top-of-the-range service to all our customers and aim to provide exceptional training to our apprentices.
Currently, there are 40 staff members working in a state-of-the-art factory, where each staff member has a dedicated work bay. Staff work on their own small projects within the factory, specializing in custom design, making the work less monotonous than production line work.
Apprenticeship Programme: At Cross, we pride ourselves on offering one of the best apprenticeship training programmes in the country. After four years, you will be one of the best-trained metal fabricators in the country. Upon successful completion of this apprenticeship, the apprentice is awarded a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate Craft – Metal Fabrication.
This apprenticeship consists of four on-the-job phases with Cross and three off-the-job phases in an educational organization. Apprentices will attend their off-the-job training phases according to the SOLAS scheduling system.
The apprenticeship is deemed complete when an apprentice has successfully finished all on-the-job and off-the-job phases, which takes a minimum of four years from the date of registration.
Pay: Cross pays all apprentices the recommended wage by the ETB (Education and Training Board). A training allowance is provided by the local ETB while the apprentice is attending off-the-job training.
Trial Period: If employed, all new staff must undergo a 1-month trial period before being signed into the training programme. This trial allows both the apprentice and the employer to assess fit before committing to the four-year apprenticeship and training programme.
Requirements:
1. Junior Certificate must be completed.
2. Leaving Certificate is a bonus.
3. Junior or Leaving Certificate Engineering, Tech Drawing (DCG), Woodwork, Physics, or Phys/Chem are bonuses.
