Financial Accountant
We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Accountant to support our Finance Director in ensuring accurate financial reporting, cost control, and compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
2. Account Reconciliation: Ensure proper reconciliation of accounts, including inventory, cost of goods sold, and production expenses.
3. Cost Analysis: Monitor and analyse production costs, raw material usage, and inventory valuation.
4. Collaboration with Production Teams: Collaborate with production teams to track and control manufacturing expenses.
5. Variance Analysis: Provide variance analysis between actual costs and budgeted costs, identifying areas of inefficiency.
6. Budget Development: Assist in the development of budgets for operational and capital expenditures.
7. Financial Forecasting: Create financial forecasts to support business planning and decision-making.
8. Budget Performance Tracking: Track and report budget performance, addressing any discrepancies.
9. Tax Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including but not limited to VAT, corporate tax, and payroll taxes.
10. External Auditor Liaison: Liaise with external auditors during annual audits and implement audit recommendations.
11. Cash Flow Management: Manage cash flow to ensure sufficient funds for operations and investments.
12. Accounts Payable and Receivable Oversight: Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely payments and collections.
13. Banking Relationship Optimization: Work with banks and financial institutions to optimise banking relationships.
14. Financial System Implementation: Implement and improve financial systems to support accurate and efficient reporting.
15. Automated Task Management: Automate routine tasks and ensure robust controls over financial data.
16. Staff Training: Train staff on financial policies and use of accounting software.
17. Financial Insights Provision: Provide insights to senior management on financial performance and growth opportunities.
18. Investment Opportunity Assessment: Conduct financial analysis to assess investment opportunities or cost-saving measures.
19. Strategic Project Participation: Participate in strategic projects, such as expansions, mergers, or acquisitions.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. A 3rd level qualification in Accounting, Finance or related field.
2. Professional certification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CPA, CIMA).
3. Previous experience in financial accounting, ideally within a manufacturing environment is a distinct advantage.
4. Proven track record of inventory management and cost accounting processes.
5. Analytical Skills: Strong ability to interpret financial data and identify trends.
6. Attention to Detail: Ensures accuracy in reports and reconciliations.
7. Knowledge of Industry Standards: Understanding of cost accounting specific to food production.
8. Communication: Effectively communicates financial insights to non-finance stakeholders.
9. Problem-Solving: Proactively identifies and addresses financial and operational issues.
10. Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
11. Organisational Skills: An ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
12. Team Player: An ability to collaborate across departments and with external partners.
Salary: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum
