We are seeking an experienced Head of Building, Development & Maintenance to provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to our maintenance, facilities operations, and integrated safety programs. The role will get great exposure in a best-in-class organisation and will play a vital role in taking facilities and maintenance management to the next level.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Team Management:
* Formulate and execute strategies for facilities management, capital development, health & safety, sustainability, and fire safety.
* Define departmental structures and reporting lines for maintenance, capital development, and safety functions.
* Develop and oversee annual budgets, including investments in safety and sustainability.
Maintenance Operations:
* Supervise all maintenance activities, sustainability efforts, and safety protocols across the facilities.
* Manage various trade teams (carpentry, plumbing, electrical, general maintenance) to ensure prompt resolution of maintenance issues and minimize disruptions.
* Establish and maintain programs for preventative maintenance, safety inspections, and sustainability.
Sustainability and Efficiency Development:
* Design and execute projects aimed at improving environmental performance and operational efficiency.
* Lead comprehensive energy audits and develop strategies to reduce the carbon footprint.
* Identify and implement renewable energy solutions suitable for the operations.
Systems Development:
* Select and implement software for maintenance and integrated safety management.
* Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and tracking systems for maintenance, health & safety, and fire safety metrics.
* Standardize processes for work requests, project management, sustainability initiatives, and safety protocols.
Health, Safety & Fire Safety Leadership:
* Collaborate with the Health & Safety Manager to continuously improve health & safety and fire safety policies and procedures.
* Ensure compliance with regulations.
* Implement fire safety monitoring and reporting systems.
ABOUT THE PERSON:
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Health & Safety, or related field. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Health & Safety, or related field.
* 10+ years of facilities management experience.
* Proven track record in maintenance operations, sustainability initiatives, and safety programs.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
* Experience in agricultural or equine facility management.
* Knowledge of modern building management systems.
* Project management certification.

* Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities.
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
