This department focuses on advancing renewable energy integration, fostering Ireland's transition to a net-zero energy system by 2050.
The team plays a pivotal role in research and policy support for decarbonising heat use across various sectors.
Reporting to the SEAI Programme Manager leading the Decarbonised Heat Research Team, the successful candidate will join a dynamic and innovative group committed to delivering high-quality research.
Their work will support the integration for example of renewable fuels, renewable district heating, heat pumps, or energy efficiency measures into Ireland's heating systems.
Essential Requirements The successful candidate must be able to demonstrate: A degree (Level 7 on the National Framework of Qualifications or higher) or equivalent in Environmental Science, Engineering, Energy Systems, or a related STEM discipline.
A minimum of three years' directly relevant experience working in renewable energy, energy efficiency, sustainability, or related fields.
Experience in heating and cooling systems or decarbonised energy initiatives is highly regarded but not essential.
Demonstrated ability to independently structure and deliver high-quality technical reports, integrating clear analyses, visualizations (e.g., graphs, charts), and structured sections such as executive summaries and methodologies.
Strong analytical skills for evaluating data, technical options, and systems, combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey complex information to diverse stakeholders.
Experience coordinating projects, managing deliverables, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve objectives.
A proactive and flexible approach to managing competing priorities, meeting deadlines, and transitioning between areas such as bioenergy and decarbonised heat projects in response to programme needs.
Desirable Requirements Experience conducting LCAs for renewable energy or energy efficiency projects.
Certification or advanced skills in managing multidisciplinary projects.
Familiarity with key EU and national directives on renewable energy, decarbonisation, and energy efficiency.
Proficiency in data analysis, modelling tools, or techno-economic evaluations.
Knowledge of certification schemes or sustainability protocols in bioenergy or renewable heating.
Experience collaborating with government, industry, or community stakeholders.
Contributions to drafting policies, strategic roadmaps, or programme guidelines.
Familiarity with technologies like district heating, heat pumps, or hybrid renewable systems.
Eligibility to Work The SEAI has a legal obligation to ensure that all employees are lawfully entitled to work in Ireland.
To qualify, candidates must hold a valid visa on the date of application and where applicable to support a candidate's application, candidates must submit a valid work permit/visa confirming permission to work in Ireland when requested.
Failure to submit the required evidence, and failure to hold a valid permit/visa during the period of the contract, will result in the application and/or contract of employment being rendered void.
