Senior Psychologist
Locum opportunity with the Irish Prison Service, Portlaoise Prison, Co. Laois.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Psychologist to join our team at Portlaoise Prison. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of behaviour monitoring procedures for individuals in our care.
Main Responsibilities
* To assess and formulate comprehensive assessments and formulate individuals referred to the psychology service.
* To provide specialist contributions to multi-disciplinary Care and Management Planning for each person.
* To engage in and supervise evidence-based psychological interventions as recommended in the Care and Management Plan.
About the Prison
Portlaoise prison is a closed high-security prison for adult males. It serves as the committal prison for those sent to custody from the Special Criminal Court and accommodates prisoners linked with subversive crime.
About the Team
The IPS Psychology Service works with people presenting with mental health difficulties, offence-specific needs, developmental disorders, intellectual difficulties, cognitive decline, traumatic brain injuries, limited literacy, and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Requirements
* Graduate membership of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or the British Psychological Society (BPS).
* A postgraduate professional qualification in Clinical Psychology recognised by PSI or Counselling Psychology recognised by PSI.
* A minimum of 2 years' postgraduate experience as a Psychologist.
Desirable Requirements
* Experience addressing emotional, mental health, and offence-related difficulties with a forensic population in a group setting.
* Experience providing consultation, education, guidance, and support to multidisciplinary colleagues.
