AZOROM has an ongoing contract with ESB and wishes to fill the Senior Civil/Structural Engineer position. This role will be based in the Civil, Environmental & Renewables Engineering Group within Engineering and Major Projects. It includes the delivery of civil engineering services from feasibility through construction stages of maintenance projects for ESB’s hydro and thermal stations and their associated infrastructure. The role involves the inspection of these assets, auditing their maintenance in line with agreed procedures, preparation of tender packages for civil maintenance projects, and the provision of structural advice through structural calculations and drawings.
Key Responsibilities
* Promote and lead the safety management culture across all activities by taking ownership and demonstrating visible commitment to safety.
* Ensure that Quality Procedures are implemented on all projects.
* Provide civil and structural engineering technical expertise and advice from project concept through to detailed design and construction.
* Lead, manage, and coordinate all relevant civil/structural engineering and associated disciplines’ activities required to successfully deliver projects to approved scope, budget, and programme including the management of civil works contracts.
* Manage engineering works package(s) relating to the delivery of electricity infrastructure projects as required including scoping, procuring, technical assessment, and contract management.
* Build and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
* Developed a competent level of expertise in the delivery of civil/structural engineering packages.
* A strong commercial and project management capability.
* Demonstrated a strong capability in assessing, communicating, and managing project-critical technical risks.
* Strong communication and report writing skills.
* Minimum 7 years relevant experience.
* Full driving licence and access to a car.
* Demonstrated a record of successfully managing significant projects or aspects of significant projects of a multi-disciplinary nature.
* Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
* Strong ability to identify project work requirements and to initiate necessary work with limited oversight.
* Proven ability to work as part of a project team.
* Experience in performing PSDP or PSCS role on projects.
Qualifications
* Level 8 Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Level 9 Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
* Chartered status in a recognised professional engineering institution.
Base Location
The position will be based in ESB Offices at One Dublin Airport Central, Dublin Airport Cloghran, Co Dublin, K67XF72 and Dublin City Centre but may require travel nationally in the course of general duties. ESB is committed to offering flexibility in ways of working and we call that Smart Working - combining digital tools with a culture of trust and empowerment to enable flexible and remote ways of working. The successful candidate may combine working from home within the Republic of Ireland, with attendance at base for in-person collaboration, currently the expectation is 2x a week with some site visits needed. However, the frequency will be agreed with the manager and may change. Flexibility to travel in support of business development and international projects will be a feature of the role.
Safety
Contractors must comply with all Health and Safety Regulations and requirements pertaining to the location where they are working and must comply with all directions and instructions from their designated ESB line management.
* Contractors shall wear full PPE, including Arc-resistant where required.
* Steel toe boots compliant with S3 EN ISO 20345.
* Safepass and manual handling training.
* Contractors shall be provided with an unbranded ESB hard hat and ear defenders where required.
* This PPE will be provided by ESB’s suppliers but without any identifiable ESB Logo.
* The PPE to be provided by ESB does not include safety boots, gloves, and eye protection. These are standard items that contractors should have at their cost.
* Contractors must have up-to-date SafePass and manual handling training.
