Head of Finance Job Description
An exciting opportunity for a Head of Finance to join a reputable State Body in Dublin.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the development of a robust financial management system that supports strategic objectives and enhances overall financial stability.
* Lead the Finance team who are responsible for ensuring key functions are operating efficiently and effectively.
* Engage with a large range of stakeholders.
Accountabilities:
Leadership:
* Contribute to the Executive Management Team in relation to strategy and day-to-day operations.
* Lead, mentor, and manage the Finance team to achieve performance targets and professional development.
* Articulate a vision to colleagues, external stakeholders, and the Board of the medium and long-term plans for the function.
* Build enhanced relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
* Recruit and develop team members to achieve high performance that supports the execution of growth strategy.
* Align each team's goals with objectives and strategic priorities.
Finance:
* Drive a strong financial control culture and ensure a robust accounting framework across end-to-end financial processes.
* Oversee the production of accurate financial and budgeting reports.
* Provide comprehensive and understandable information to the Senior Leadership Team and Board.
* Lead Treasury management policies and operations.
* Ensure robust policies, procedures, and controls are in place to manage financial activities.
* Oversee the operation of the finance function.
* Manage the day-to-day relationship with the Finance function.
* Identify and evaluate financial risks and support the Head of Risk and Governance in delivering an appropriate financial control assurance environment.
* Keep abreast of upstream financial reporting developments and support the business in ensuring timely adoption of new accounting pronouncements and relevant codes of practice.
* Lead the digital transformation of the finance function to support the growth of the organisation.
Requirements:
* A qualified accountant with a high level of numeracy, financial acumen, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
* Minimum of 15 years' experience working in a relevant role in Finance.
* Experience of having worked in a similar Finance role.
Skills:
* Strong understanding of financial principles, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis.
* Ability to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
* Excellent report writing, presentation, negotiation, and communication skills.
* Effective planning skills with a proven ability to prioritise work and manage multiple stakeholders.
* Ability to lead and develop a team.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
