Sonas Nursing Home is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Activities Co-Ordinator.
As an Activities Co-Ordinator, you will organise, promote, and lead engaging activities tailored to the interests and needs of our residents, working closely with the care team. You’ll also foster connections with the local community, voluntary groups, and healthcare organisations to enrich your activity programs. Building respectful and meaningful relationships with residents will be at the heart of this role.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
* Plan and deliver a wide range of activities that meet residents’ preferences and abilities, collaborating with the care team.
* Design and implement activity programs that encourage ongoing engagement and progression.
* Set up and prepare rooms and equipment for activities, ensuring adherence to Manual Handling policies.
* Tailor activities to the needs of both individual residents and the wider group.
* Record and monitor residents’ engagement levels in their care documentation.
* Build strong links with local community groups, voluntary bodies, and healthcare organisations.
* Promote and practice person-centered care in all activities.
* Foster respectful and equal relationships with residents.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, and colleagues.
* Encourage community involvement in activity programs.
* Support the management team during internal and external audits or inspections.
* Bring enthusiasm, patience, and a positive outlook, creating a fun and inclusive atmosphere for residents.
* Ensure activity programs align with the Sonas Values, policies, and procedures.
* Be available to work flexible shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Education and Experience:
* FETAC/QQI Level 5 in Healthcare or a related field.
* Modules in Care of the Older Person, Dementia Care, and Palliative Care are desirable or willingness to complete them.
* Valid certificates in CPR, Infection Control, Manual and Resident Moving & Handling, and Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (training can be provided if needed).
* Previous experience in Care of the Older Person in a residential care setting.
* Specialist skills in areas such as cooking, gardening, knitting, music, or arts and crafts are a plus.
* Strong commitment to health and safety practices.
* Passion for delivering outstanding care and services to older people.
* A Full Irish Driver’s License is essential.
