Staff Grade Medical Scientist in Haematology / Blood transfusion Purpose of the Role: The purpose of this post is to;
· Assist in implementing a clinical laboratory service that supports the clinical needs of the patients
· Support the implementation of a 'quality management' programme which is patient centered and which measures and audits performance and client satisfaction
· Assist in training and leading a team of skilled staff, creating and promoting healthy working relationships
· Identify and implement operational processes to the standard of best practice in order to optimize use of resources
Essential Criteria: Candidates must, on the latest date for receiving completed application forms for the post, possess:
· Bachelor in Science (Applied Science) Honours degree (Biomedical option) from the University of Dublin/ Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street
Or
· Bachelor in Science Honours degree in Biomedical Science from t University College Cork – Cork Institute of Technology course
Or
· Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology, Kevin Street of the Cork Institute of Technology awarded prior to 1994
Or
· Possess Certificate in Medical Laboratory Sciences of the Dublin Institute of Technology.
Kevin Street or Cork Institute of Technology or the Galway/ Mayo Institute of Technology (awarded prior to 1997)
Or
· A recognised qualification at least equivalent to the above and
be a member, or be eligible for membership, of the Academy of Clinical Science and Laboratory Medicine (ACSLM)
and
· Be registered with CORU Be registered with CORU from 31st march 2019 if newly qualified or by 31st March 2021 if currently employed as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
and
· Applicants who qualified outside Ireland must provide evidence from CORU Medical Scientist Registration Board that their qualifications have been approved for Medical Scientist and meet criteria for recognition including CORU Application Reference number.
