ROLE
Reporting to a Divisional Manager or Head of Financial Reporting Ireland Operations – Limerick, responsible for identifying and interpreting changes to accounting standards and regulations that will impact the client allocation within the department, as well as liaising with external audit firms to develop solutions regarding the impact of such changes.
The candidate will assist with the review of financial statements across the department in addition to identifying and implementing best practices across teams. The candidate will work closely with the training department to identify training needs and develop best practice solutions for Ireland FR and our outsourced locations.
The candidate will also work with the management team regarding client servicing, new business opportunities, and client due diligence presentations.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Responsible for establishing best practices within the department to provide unrivaled client satisfaction and continuously improve the department’s performance to clients (internal and external) year on year.
2. Responsible for the reviewing and delivery of financial statements where required to ensure they are compliant with current accounting and regulatory requirements.
3. Become the primary point of contact with each of our associated Audit Firms, working closely with the Audit Firms and facilitating technical briefs and updates for the department, thereby keeping abreast of industry and regulatory developments.
4. Represent Northern Trust Financial Reporting at relevant external forums that impact our business.
5. Identify training and development needs and establish performance standards for the department.
6. Guide staff in the resolution of non-routine and complex financial reporting issues.
7. Liaise with Compliance and other relevant internal stakeholders where required.
SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
1. Must have proven experience in the investment management industry acquired through working in fund administration, asset management, securities operations, or audit industry.
2. Financial reporting experience preferred.
3. Demonstrated leadership and team-building qualities and ability to motivate a team.
4. Strong communication, first-class presentation, and internal and external client-servicing skills.
5. Evidence of successful negotiation skills.
6. Detailed knowledge of both onshore and offshore funds administration, in particular, Irish/UK GAAP and IFRS experience.
7. Working knowledge of the Irish regulatory regime as it relates to Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting.
8. Knowledge of leading Fund Accounting and Financial Reporting systems. Experience with vendors preferred (Bloomberg, Reuters, etc.).
9. Understanding of how Fund Accounting systems link and interface with other systems.
10. Ability to provide input into the long-term strategy for the department.
11. Client Service: Experience of representing businesses to current clients via presentations, etc. Instill a client service culture among staff and ensure that all clients receive a quality service.
12. People Management: Experience of designing and implementing development plans, training plans, and best practice solutions for all levels of staff in various locations.
13. Be an effective communicator, motivator, coach, and mentor.
14. Business Management: As a manager, jointly manage the ongoing success of NT Ireland.
