Clinical Nurse Manager Role
Summary:
The Clinical Nurse Manager is responsible for overseeing the care of residents within a nursing home, maintaining day-to-day operations, and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
Main Responsibilities
* Ensure efficient running of the nursing home and create an atmosphere conducive to resident well-being.
* Interact with residents to meet their health care needs and resolve any problems.
* Report ill-health among residents and request GP/professional visits as necessary.
* Ensure meal quality and dietary needs are met.
* Undertake general nursing work and personal care as needed.
* Administer prescribed medicines and maintain records according to NMBI and company guidelines.
* Support the Home Manager in auditing care plans and ensure best practice.
* Practice integrity in dealings with residents' personal and financial affairs.
Communication
* Maintain effective communication with the Home Manager.
* Communicate with residents, relatives, staff, managing director, divisional office, and other concerned bodies as requested or in the absence of the Home Manager.
* Obtain incident/accident reports and advise the Home Manager on resident care/concerns.
* Supervise visits and liaise with GPs to establish good relationships between GPs/healthcare professionals and the nursing home.
* Provide clear handover reports to staff members.
Budgetary / Financial Control
* Manage, monitor, and maintain agreed budgets with the Home Manager and Divisional Office.
* Conserve commodities used in the nursing home by staff members.
Human Resources (HR)
* Adhere to and implement all HR policies and procedures.
* In the absence of the Home Manager, fill Staff vacancies by advertising with FAS or contacting the Director of HR.
* Maintain correct records of working hours for all staff members.
* Monitor and control sickness absence in line with Company policy.
* Implement Discipline policies and procedures, and Grievance policies and procedures.
* Assist the Home Manager with formal supervision/appraisal of staff members.
* Initiate training for staff members on Equal Opportunities policy.
Marketing
* Market the nursing home and promote a positive personal/professional profile in the local community.
* In the absence of the Home Manager, fill Client vacancies by liaising with HSE and assessing/selecting suitable residents.
* Ensure the nursing home is attractively presented and odour-free at all times.
Training & Development
* Supervise and instruct junior/new staff members in all aspects of their work.
* Maintain and continuously improve professional knowledge and competence.
* Attend mandatory training days/courses as required.
Health & Safety
* Report immediately to the Home Manager any illness of an infectious nature or accident incurred by a resident, colleague, self, or another.
* Understand and implement the Nursing Home's Health & Safety policy and Emergency & Fire procedures.
* In the absence of the Home Manager, carry out duties as Chief Fire Officer for the Nursing Home.
Skills, Knowledge & Qualifications
* Current NMBI Registration
* Previous management/supervisory experience
* Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
* Team player
* Genuine interest in working with our Client group
* Certification of Garda Vetting Unit clearance
* Care for the Elderly experience/qualification
Desired
* Minimum two years management/supervisory experience
