Job Description
MHI are now seeking to recruit a Quantity Surveyor for their manufacturing plant and offices in Co. Cavan.
Principal Duties Include but are not limited to:
1. Prepare tender documents for submission.
2. Analysing tender returns.
3. Develop bills of quantities from drawings or tenders. Experience with Cubit software is an advantage.
4. Price/forecast the cost of the different materials needed for the project.
5. Track changes to the design and/or construction work and adjust budget projections accordingly.
6. Procure the services of contractors and/or subcontractors, negotiate rates and manage accounts.
7. Measure and value the work done on site.
8. Prepare, submit and agree interim and final valuations with client representatives.
9. Ensure understanding and adherence to all contract obligations by stakeholders.
10. The ability to negotiate.
11. A good working knowledge of MS Excel and the ability to learn how to use specialist software.
12. Detailed report writing.
13. Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
14. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
15. Advise Senior Management of all issues which may have an impact on the performance of the Company, whether commercial, operational or otherwise.
16. Liaise with other departments to provide controls to operate during the progress of contracts.
17. Liaise with the client and other construction professionals, such as site managers and project managers.
Ideal Candidate will have/be:
1. Relevant experience working as a QS and be qualified to degree level.
2. Experience working in construction in a similar role – minimum of five years.
3. Strong skills in planning, organisational and time management.
4. Good communication skills with the ability to build sound business relationships with all stakeholders.
5. Good work ethic and attitude, forward thinker.
6. Commercially and Contractually aware.
7. Highly organised individual.
