Role Summary: To deliver a quality, patient-focused radiographic service, to assist the Radiology Services Manager (RSM) and Deputy in the provision of an effective and efficient service. To perform general radiography, imaging and specialised radiography in line with department protocols to a high standard of technical quality in a caring and efficient manner and in line with established guidelines and operating procedures.
Responsibilities:
1. Carry out duties under the supervision of the RSM and Clinical Specialist Radiographers.
2. Lead in the provision of radiography services in a professional manner.
3. Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the provision of an integrated patient-centred service.
4. Adhere to all departmental imaging protocols; be responsible for the correct identification of patient images.
5. Rotate through all areas of radiology as required.
6. Participate in on-call service as required.
7. Lead in the establishment and maintenance of standards for quality improvement and ensure adherence to existing standards and policies.
8. Contribute to the planning and development of the service and participate in service improvements.
9. Participate in routine daily inspection of equipment and quality assurance procedures.
10. Report any incidents via the Q-Pulse system, escalating to the Clinical Specialist Radiographer / RSM.
11. Keep up-to-date with current techniques and developments in Radiographic and Imaging procedures and participate in in-service training as required.
12. Actively participate in Continuing Professional Development.
13. Support research projects and undertake training of more junior or less experienced staff.
14. Carry out all other duties as directed by the Radiology Services Manager, Clinical Specialist in area where working.
The Candidate:
1. Have the diploma of the College of Radiographers (Diagnostic) or have a Bachelor of Science or its equivalent (Diagnostic Radiography).
2. Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience in a broad range of examinations (General radiology and CT are a basic requirement).
3. Demonstrate experience of working with a team of Radiographers.
4. Have proven ability to take initiative and work under pressure.
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
6. Evidence of continuing professional development.
7. Have a high capacity for responsibility and individual initiative.
8. Flexibility in role and take on additional duties as required.
