We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Desktop Support Manager to join our IT team. The successful candidate will lead and manage our desktop support team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical support services to our employees. As a Desktop Support Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining the efficiency and reliability of our IT infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
1. Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team of desktop support engineers, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development.
2. Technical Expertise: Handle complex technical issues and escalations, providing advanced troubleshooting and problem resolution.
3. Project Management: Manage and coordinate IT projects across all six business units, from planning to execution, ensuring timelines and objectives are met.
4. Resource Management: Allocate resources effectively to meet the needs of the organisation and ensure timely resolution of technical issues.
5. Policy Implementation: Develop and enforce IT policies, procedures, and best practices to maintain system integrity and security.
6. Asset Management: Maintain inventory of hardware and software.
7. Performance Monitoring: Track and report on the performance of the desktop support team, ensuring compliance with service level agreements (SLAs).
8. Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for staff on new technologies and best practices, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
9. Communication: Serve as a liaison between the IT department and other departments, understanding and addressing their technical needs. Liaise with external vendors and service providers to ensure best solutions and services.
10. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of technical issues, resolutions, and support activities for future reference.
Skills Required:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in desktop support or a similar technical support role.
3. Previous experience in a managerial or supervisory position is preferred.
4. Strong knowledge of operating systems (Windows, macOS), hardware, and networking.
5. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
8. Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator) are a requirement.
