What you can expect in a typical day:
The Process Design Engineer will play a key role in the growth of the business through the scoping, design development, and execution support of projects in the business plan. Responsibilities will extend to supporting projects through the Management of Change Process, project audits, participating in HAZOPS and delivering operator training for new projects consistent with corporate requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop Management of Change (MOC) documents.
2. Carry out process design for projects that arise from: Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOP, return project opportunities, constraint removal, regulatory requirements, renewables and emergent work arising from ongoing operations.
3. Oversee MOC through detailed design, support the Authority to Commission stage and lead the Pre-Start Up Safety Review (PSSR) prior to commissioning.
4. Ensure all processes adhere to regulatory standards and environmental guidelines.
5. Participate in training, commissioning and test runs as required.
6. Update process safety information such as PFDs and P&IDs.
7. Demonstrate Safety Leadership by being an active member of audit groups and assisting with incident investigations.
8. Mentor and support other team members, including students and interns, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.

Education and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
2. Strong understanding of industrial operations.
3. 5-10 years industrial experience.
4. Knowledge of Process Design in industry including shell and tube heat exchanger design, air fin fan cooler design, centrifugal pump design, control valve sizing, pressure relief valve sizing, design of distillation column internals.
5. Awareness of safety and environmental regulations.
6. Familiar with process design software packages.
7. Strong presentation skills, both written and verbal.
