Job Description:
We would like to invite applications for the position of Assistant Director of Nursing in Nenagh Rehabilitation Unit, Tyone Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.
Purpose of Position:
To support the Director of Nursing in the clinical and professional leadership of the care team and to deliver direct resident care in accordance with Bartra Healthcare standards.
Roles and Responsibilities:
General Duties and Responsibilities:
* To ensure that the provision of a high standard of care to the residents/patients and their family members/representatives is consistent with the mission, vision, values, and strategic plan of Bartra Healthcare.
* To promote and maintain resident safety and provide quality care through respecting the dignity, privacy, and rights of the resident.
* To ensure that their place of work is operated in a manner that respects the age, gender, sexual orientation, disability, family status, civil status, race, religious beliefs, and ethnic and cultural background of each resident.
* To develop relationships with residents in order to better facilitate resident autonomy, informed choice, and evidence-based decision-making.
* To encourage recognition of the resident as an individual; ensuring residents' rights, needs, and comfort are given priority during the provision of care.
Governance and Leadership:
* To develop and maintain competency levels necessary for professional practice.
* To undertake the role and responsibilities of the Person-in-Charge in line with the Health Act 2007, related regulations, and the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) standards, including those relating to HIQA notification requirement and quarterly reporting.
* To oversee the organisation and the day-to-day management of Bartra Healthcare individual location.
* To oversee the delivery of services with all members of the multi-disciplinary teams.
Management and Delegation Responsibilities:
* To ensure that where directing delegation of care, the delegation is appropriate to the definitions and philosophies of nursing, taking into account the levels of experience, competence, role, and scope of practice of the staff members taking on the delegated task.
* To be accountable for roles or activities delegated to junior staff, where appropriate.
* To be responsible for the recruitment, development, and supervision of staff.
Regulatory Compliance:
* To ensure that applicable legislation, regulatory requirements, best practice, and relevant codes of practice are met.
* To ensure that all legally required certificates and licenses are kept up to date and are displayed where required.
* To manage the ordering, storage, administration, and record requirements for medication in accordance with the following legislation:
* Irish Medicines Board (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006 (No. 3 of 2006)
* Medicinal Products (Prescription and Control of Supply) Regulations 2003 - 2014
Eligibility Criteria/Qualifications and/or Experience:
Essential Qualifications:
* Registered General Nurse on the Register of Nurses held by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).
* Post registration qualification in nursing people with dementia.
* Evidence of continuous professional development.
* Post Graduate Diploma in Gerontology.
* QQI Level 6 or Higher Certificate in Management and/or Leadership.
* Minimum three years post-graduate experience with a minimum of two years' experience in Care of the Older Person.
* Have not less than three years' experience in a management capacity in the health and social area.
* Experience in Psycho geriatric Nursing Care/Psychiatry/Adult Disabled.
* In-depth knowledge of the ageing process.
* Prior experience with Microsoft Office and typing.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Organized and resourceful.
* Customer-focused.
* Active listener.
* Excellent written/numerical/analytical skills.
* Strong IT skills.
* Highly organized.
